Once you have earned XP, you can spend those points to level up your character. You may switch paths at any time, but you may only ever have bonuses from a single path activated. Once you have enough XP to unlock a new tier, you may select one of the two options. Both options from a single tier can never be active at the same time. If you wish to unlock the other choice in a tier, the XP cost would need to be paid a second time. Tiers may only be unlocked if you have at least one option from the tier below it unlocked. This means that unlocking a Tier 5 option will require 100 XP.
